Amber Black GPD Pocket 2

Modern aspiring hackers want to have as much processing power as possible in a small and portable device. The Amber Black GPD Pocket 2 is a very cool yet incredibly small device that has all of the desirable features of a portable laptop but at a fraction of the size. The Pocket 2 is reliable, durable and surprisingly powerful for what it is, which makes it great for hacking on the go.

Great unibody design

Right off the bat, the coolest thing about the Amber Black GPD Pocket 2 is its sleek and stylish design. It’s designed to fit comfortably in the palm of your hand so you can use it on the go.

Amber Black GPD Pocket 2 - Great unibody design

This ethical hacking product is focused on value and convenience. One key design feature is the unibody design which means you won’t have to deal with parts falling off and being lost.

We particularly like that this device was created from a sleek magnesium and aluminum alloy. Hackers want to have durable, powerful, and portable devices, and it also helps if they look cool.

We determined how durable the device was by conducting a fall test. We let the device fall from waist height without providing a cushioning aid and didn’t see any damage.

That’s the great thing about having unibody designs, they don’t break easily and can withstand a lot of damage and pressure.

Streamlining the design and making it fashionable is an important feature for many hackers, and the manufacturers outdid themselves here. You can tell impressive attention to detail was exercised by the designers to create a streamlined and stylish product with this device.

Compact

It’s difficult to envisage how small this product is from the specs. It’s so small that you can fit it in your pocket. You get a lot of processing power (more than a smartphone), a dedicated keyboard, and you can easily connect it to wi-fi.

Amber Black GPD Pocket 2 - very small

Having such a small body makes it very easy for you to take this product with you whenever you want, making it great as far as hacking tools go.

Extremely light

Aside from being very small, this product is super light. At around 500g, you just can’t find a laptop that’s so small and with lots of processing power while also being very light and portable. It’s the epitome of productivity on the go for aspiring hackers.

7-inch screen

The display size is important because a small display will always be a challenge. Ideally, you want to go with the larger display because that will be your visual focus when working on your hacking projects. 7 inches is a good compromise when it comes to display size since you don’t want something too small, but at the same time, you don’t want something extremely large either since it loses portability with size.

The display size does take a little bit to get used to it and it may not be the most welcoming at first, but you will get used to it quickly.

One thing we didn’t mention is the fact that this product has a full HD display. Again, considering the size you would not expect to have the 1920×2080 resolution that you receive here. But you do get it, and that’s a great testament to the design quality that went into this product. We love using it every day just because it’s super small, portable and at the same time you don’t skimp on quality either. It’s great for programmers and hackers on the go.

Great specs

The sheer fact that you can have Windows 10 running on a small screen like this is an achievement. The fact that you get a rather new Celeron processor is also great on a device so small. Of course, they could have opted for a better processor, but this one is powerful enough for most on-the-go ethical hacking tasks.

It also has integrated graphics, something that a lot of people would have a gripe with more often than not. Here you have an Intel HD Graphics 615. This is one of the better integrated graphics out there and it actually packs a punch considering the value and quality you receive as a whole.

The device sports an 850 Mhz processor. Again, this is not the most powerful processor out there, but it’s perfect for the kinds of hacking projects you’ll be conducting on the device. This is a great investment especially if you’re into great tech pieces that don’t burn a hole in your pocket.

Storage space and RAM

When it comes to RAM, this new version that has 8 GB of RAM. The old version had 4 GB, and obviously, it wasn’t that powerful for most on the fly hacking projects. The fact that you get 128 GB of storage with such a small product is quite amazing as well.

Keyboard design

The manufacturer went with a traditional keyboard design that you’ll already be familiar with. The keyboard is compact so if you’re skilled at touch typing it may take a little while to get used to.

Connectivity

This product was created with expandability in mind. You can add in extra storage with the SD card slot, so you can easily keep important files on a large SD card that’s even bigger than the current storage. There aren’t too many USB ports, but with a smart usage approach, you will not have a problem making the most out of them. You just need to be creative and push the boundaries a little bit to get the most out of your portable hacking device.

Battery life

The Amber Black GPD Pocket 2 has a battery life ranging from 6 hours to 8 hours in total. Of course, this will vary based on how you use the unit as more intensive hacking applications will cause the battery to go down faster.

Optical navigation

You should also keep in mind that the Amber Black GPD Pocket 2 comes with optical navigation. That’s an incredible thing to have on a laptop that’s so small. You can operate with one finger for a complete rotation and movement anywhere without any issues.

Remember, this is not a tablet, it’s a fully fledged laptop, so offering a touchscreen-based approach is exceptional for such a product.

Active cooling

Passive cooling designs tend to compromise performance, so the manufacturer went with active cooling. Thankfully this cooling system is not that loud, so you do end up getting the right value for money with it. This makes a lot of sense considering the fact that you will want to use this product for hours on end and not attract attention to your hacking activities.

Is it worth it?

The Amber Black GPD Pocket 2 impressive in its quality, value, and professionalism. It’s super durable, very thin and also super light. Yet despite all of that you also get tremendous value for money which is a huge selling point for a lot of aspiring hackers.  When it comes to hacking on the go, you want a device that is pocket-sized, durable, lightweight, and powerful, and this ticks all the boxes.
